WHAT DO WE BELIEVE?

-We believe in the Bible, and that it is the inspired Word of God.  It is inerrant, unchanging, infallible, and is the final authority on all of our doctrine and practices.

-We believe that there is one God, and He exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

-We believe that Jesus Christ was and is the Son of God, that He was born from a virgin, that He came and lived as a man, and committed no sin.  He was crucified, died, and was buried, but after three days rose from the grave, asserting His power over death and forever offering himself as a sacrifice for our sin.

-We believe in the Holy Spirit, and that Jesus sends the Holy Spirit as a guide, comforter, and director to all those that believe in Him.  We believe that the Holy Spirit dwells with and within us, empowering us to live the life that God has called us to live and to carry out the ministry that God has placed on our hearts.

HISTORY

Mountain Pointe Ministries began on August 13, 1984, with a group of 25 believers who met in a home on Straight Mountain, in Blount County with the desire to plant a new church. Two acres of land were purchased and donated for construction of a sanctuary. On December 1st of that same year, this sanctuary was completed and services began.
On February 24th, 1985 State Overseer Rev. Bill Sheeks and Evangelism Director Rev. W. M. Dollars set in order the Straight Mountain Church of God with 56 members. Rev. Ralph Boswell was appointed as the first Pastor. On October 19, 1986 Rev. Robert E. (Bob) Bryant came to the church as Pastor.
The first expansion took place in 1986 to provide classrooms, a kitchen, and a fellowship hall. A paved parking lot was added in 1993, and in 2000, the sanctuary was completely renovated to make better use of the worship area.

Mountain Pointe Ministries began with 56 members in 1985. Due to growth, and the anticipation of further growth, land surrounding the church was purchased. In 2008 the decision to expand again was agreed upon and on November 30, 2008 the church broke ground on the construction of a new worship center which includes a 400 seat sanctuary, two nurseries and a choir room. The first service was held in this new worship center on Father’s Day 2009.
In August 2007, the membership voted to change the name of the church from Straight Mountain Church of God to Mountain Pointe Ministries.
Mountain Pointe Ministries continues to grow in ways that, sometimes, are not even expected. In 2010, the church was blessed to add our Television Ministry which allows us to share God’s Word with people who may not be able to attend church regularly, as well as others who hunger for more of God’s Word. We have recently added new small groups which allow our members with common interests to come together in to study the Word of God in a more personal and intimate way.
God continued to bless Mountain Pointe Ministries for 32 years with a wonderful pastor and we are so thankful to Him for Pastor Bob and his wife Katrinka. It is through their vision, hard work and dedication to God and the people of Blount County that Mountain Pointe Ministries has grown, been effective in community outreach, and has become a place that people the world over consider to be their church home.  After being a powerful leader and mighty servant for God, he preached his last sermon as lead pastor at Mountain Pointe Ministries on October 21, 2018.  He and Sister Katrinka continue to be faithful servants to the ministries at MPM.

The Lord works in mysterious ways and knew what Mountain Pointe Ministries needed to continue on the path to minister to not only the church, but our community as well.   Mountain Pointe Ministries began to pray and seek the Lord’s will in selecting the next leader for our church.  On November 11, 2018, Brother Pat Bryant, was voted in as our new lead pastor.  Pastor Pat and his wife, Lisa have so graciously carried on the vision of Mountain Pointe Ministries in leading their flock and expanding the kingdom.  MPM continues to grow and sustain our vision to love and minister to the lost and hurting people that need to know God.  When you enter the doors of MPM, you will feel the love and presence of God, and you will not leave the same.

ABOUT US

Mountain Pointe Ministries exists to carry out the mission of Jesus Christ.  We come together to bring glory to the name of God, to love one another and build each other up as we all walk through life, and to reach out and love our community just as Christ first loved us.  We are not people that have our lives all together, we are not perfect, and we do not claim to be.  We are a group of people that are broken and in need of the love of Jesus.  Because He has rescued us, we offer everything we are to Him.
